About University
The Odessa National Medical University is the public University in Odessa.Odessa National Medical University was started as medical faculty of the Novorossiysk University in Odessa, in the year 1900,and it became the most prestigious medical university of the era.However, this successful start was suspended by the war between Russia and Japan, the First World War,the October Revolution of 1917, and the Civil War. So time passed slowly and new system of higher education started from the scratch. However, the positive things laid in the pre-revolutionary times, soon began to pay off.Over the years of Independent Ukraine,our university has turned into one of the leading medical universities of the IV level of accreditation.

Currently, by the efforts of the Directors/board members/faculty members and contributing members of the medical fraternity of the University.ONMU is one of the leading universities of Ukraine.The level of training of students and specialists is close to world standards. Today, about 10 thousand students and trainees study at six faculties and 66 departments of the university, 3000 of them are citizens of 52 foreign countries. Postgraduate education is provided for 250 postgraduate students, trainees, masters and medical residents.
The University is accredited by WHO/MCI/Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health.Ukraine/Participant of Bologna Declaration in 1999/Member of International and European University Association.Medical degree from Odessa National Medical University is Globally recognised.

Hostel and student life in ONMU
ONMedU has six hostels. Hostels are provided with:

#Furniture and bedding in rooms is provided by the hostel.
#Reading rooms and gym are also available in every hostel.

Sports-Health Complex
The university has a sport-health complex on the Black Sea shore, where over 500 students at a time can rest in summer.
The university’s Sports Complex is situated on the territory of the campus. It has six sports halls; for various games, including wrestling, table tennis, athletics, aerobics, badminton, rhythmic gymnastics, training room (gym). At the university the students can participate in more than 16 kinds of sports. The most popular are athletics, basketball, handball, tennis, weight lifting, swimming, football, fencing, mini-football, judo, unarmed combat, chess, badminton and other.
Polyclinic Service
Annual medical examination of every student is mandatory, which is carried out every year in the beginning of academic session at the Students’ Polyclinic. The medical examination is done by the specialist doctors and if needed all type of diagnostic investigations are carried out.
